Sunday oh Sunday.

Happy Sunday loves~~~~~

So today was a good day! I went to church (it was a children's service today), then I hate lunch with the family and we spent some time at petco and there were so many dogs I was in heaven.

I took a nap, played with my dogs, talked with my sister... today was a good day. Oh, and my hair looked fabulous today I'll tell you guys why a little later in this post~

So as I said I took a nap and guess who joined me???

Cute little button nose belongs to Nina! She napped and cuddled with me, she is an adorable baby. Adorable, fluffy, grumpy baby.

I'm not into sandwiches, subs, or anything of the like ok I don't even like burgers. Firehouse subs however has me whipped, this is probably the only sub I would ever eat. It's so good, mouth-watering, and it comes hot (you can literally see smoke coming off it) and has cheese (ah my love) it tastes great with multi-grain bread.

Ok, now on to the topic of my hair! I washed it last night and I normally air dry my hair. Yesterday I was feeling like doing something  with it that would look good today. My hair is really long and takes forever to dry, so I took to pinterest to search what I could do with it and found the perfect post from the Oprah website.

This article was 3 Ways to Transform Wet Hair While You Sleep. From the three techniques I chose the one to get wavy hair, since my hair is so flat. These were the instructions:

Wake Up to Waves

Try Gibson's technique for shoulder-length hair and skip the curling iron in the morning.

1. Apply a light mousse from roots to ends to help hair hold its shape as it dries.
2. From hairline to nape, divide your hair down the middle with a comb, separating it into two equal sections.
3. Braid each side from the middle down. Starting any higher will create crimps near your roots.
4. Secure the end of each braid with a metal-free elastic.
5. Pull out the elastics or pins in the morning and unwind your hair. For a beachy effect, mist a salt spray all over your hair and scrunch with your hands.

I did however change up one part a little bit, when I braided my hair I took the braids and made them up into a loose bun. I went to bed and when I woke up today I did my daily routine got ready and before I left the house let the braids loose and finger brushed it. I really liked how it turned out guys, I took a bunch of pictures but I'll only post one to spare you.

Well today was a great end to the weekend, and hopefully a great start to a great week!
How was your weekend? I hope all of you have a great week ahead of you  (I typed great too many times ahaha)

Some apps to start off the year.

To start of some of my New Year suggestions I've added some new apps to my phone. I thought I would share some of my favorites with you:

1. Daily Yoga- I decided to try out yoga this year and this app is steadily becoming a favorite.
It has programs from beginners to advanced (I'm on the beginners course). It has for relaxation, flexibility, core training, etc. And its available for both android and iOS.

2. Aqualert- Helpful reminder to drink water the whole day. It has different cup sizes and tells you according to your weight and/or height how much water you need!

3. Journey- A journaling app, it's very simple and you don't have to write a whole paragraph for a post. Sometimes you can just add a picture for the day. It's great for journaling beginners like me, I'll still keep an actual paper journal. However this app is great for when I go out and don't have my journal handy and something just pops up in my head.

Android/sadly not available for iOS

4. Brit + Co- I just found this gem yesterday! It's filled with diy articles, and other adorable lifestyle, fashion, etc. articles.

And just for fun I'll add a game app that has had me obsessed lately:
Covet Fashion- it's a fashion game and very addictive to me.

What is some of your favorite apps to start the year?

Have a happy weekend!

New Year Suggestions 2016.

This morning I woke up and saw that my terrarium flowers were blooming~

I then got ready for a day out with my siblings. My sister's birthday was on Sunday, but today we had our own mini celebration just us three siblings. We bonded, went shopping for a little, had some amazing ginger ale from a quaint little market, and finished of with dinner.

While I was in the car, I was thinking of New Year resolutions and how I see so many blogs posts, statuses, etc. about it.
When you google the definition of resolution the first meaning that shows up is: a firm decision to do or not to do something.

I don't know why, but I find the word resolution pressuring. This pressure to keep up with these firm decisions I made with no thought if I could actually go through  with it. Then at the end of the year I find myself disappointed because this pressure made me so anxious I barely make at least one of the resolutions work out.

So this year I'm not going to pressure myself, and I'm going to be laid back about it.

Instead of resolutions, I jotted down some suggestions for the New Year. This way if I follow through with them I'll be very happy and surprised with the achievements and if I don't follow through it'll be alright because they were just suggestions. It'll be up to me if I take up the suggestions or not.

Anyways here is the list of suggestions I made to myself for this year:

1. Blog more (I use blogging as therapy so why not)
2. Try to socialize more.
3. Lead a healthier lifestyle.
4. Do things that make me happy.
5. Work on my time management.
6. Do more DIY projects.
7. Get back into painting.
8. Practice, practice, practice using my drawing tablet.
9. Take more pictures, make them meaningful pictures.
10. Be more open about my feelings.
11. Manage my finances better.
12. Possibly get a new dog. Let me explain this one, I know you guys will see a couple of dogs in some posts and I call them my babies but really they aren't mine mine. Minki is my sister's dog, Nina and Suki are my mother's dogs even though I raised them, and Claudette is my baby cousins' dog who we are taking care of. I want to have my own dog like my sister, where I'm responsible for the doggie financially, physically, and emotionally. A dog that I'll be able to take with me when I move out. Because it's mine not my sister's or the family's, just completely mine.
13. Work on my relationship with God.

So those are my suggestions. Do you guys have any suggestions or resolutions for 2016? If so, please share I would love the read about them! Leave a comment below, maybe we can help each other out or see if we have any in common!

I love my mornings with you.

There is nothing better than waking up and this being the first thing you see when your eyes open.

Whenever I see that I know that my day is starting out right. Sometimes I don't get up straight away, I just lay there looking at my little fluffball feeling so lucky to have her in my life.

Minki is so great, she always knows when my mood is down and lays on top of me or next to me until I feel better. She would have been a great therapy dog. She just looks at you with those big, adorable eyes and you can't help but feel happy and lucky to have her.

I'm so blessed to have all my dogs, they bring sunshine to my life. Even when I think that there is none, when I feel like everything is just too much and want to hide in me cave (room), one look at that face and I think life isn't so bad.

The cuddles don't normally last too long when she sees her toys and jumps off to the side to play lol. I still like to watch her and how happy she is with something so simple.

I am now ready to face another day!
How are you guys? Do you have someone like Minki in your life?

DIY project. Glass Marbling.

I made a do-it -yourself project and wanted to share it here in my blog. I had a little helper too that you'll see in this somewhat tutorial I'm making.

In this first post I'll show how I painted a glass bowl with nail polish, and how it looks like using said bowl to make my own terrarium.

Things used:

The bowl I used was given to me by my grandmother, but any glass bowl, vase, cup, etc. can be used. Dollar stores and craft stores normally have pretty nice ones for cheap.

To paint it I used some nail polishes I had lying around. The ones I used came out pretty dark, so I suggest adding one or two bright colors to contrast with the darker colors. Also, remember to use a toothpick!

How it went down:

~The first thing I did was clean the bowl and let it dry. Then my little helper Suki saw fit to inspect the bowl before giving me the go ahead for this project!

~After Suki's inspection I filled a bucket with clean water. Make sure the bucket is big enough for the glass bowl, vase, cup, etc. you'll be using. I also recommend using an old bucket, because the nail polish WILL stain the bucket.

~For the marbling part it is easier to have all the nail polishes slightly open because you have to be a little fast to get the effect before it dries. Pick the first color and add to the bucket a few drops, make sure it's in the middle. Quickly add a few drops of the other colors you wish to use.

~Using a toothpick drag the colors gently in different directions, of in whatever shape you'd like the marble to be.

~Now the last part is grabbing the bowl and dipping it in the water, but when taking it out use a scooping motion so the nail polish sticks. If you just dip it and take it out the nail polish will just stay in the water and the process will have to be repeated. This is how the bowl looked after I did this:

~The colors I used were too subtle so I let it dry and marbled it again to get a bit more color and pattern to it. And the end result was this:

and a little close up~

~After it dries I suggest using a paint sealant spray on your finished product so it'll last longer.

Mine didn't come out perfect, but I liked it. It suits it's purpose which I'll show you in the next post~

Suki sure liked helping, she inspected every step before letting me go ahead ahahaha.

She says she's seen better,  but it was a good try for my first time. But she also just wanted to play with her teddy so I don't take her criticism to heart. I love my little Queen.

and meet Terry the terrarium:

Suki says have  nice day/night everyone,

see you guys on the next post!

New Year. New URL. Same me

Happy New Year everyone!!!!

I'm starting my year with a new URL. I've moved back home, to the wonderful island of Puerto Rico, so from now on I'll be sharing my everyday island life. It's everyday things, only slightly more tropical hahaha.
I've been away for a long time since moving back home but here I am now.

I started out the year going to different gardening shops, with my mother, and grandmother. There were a lot of beautiful plants and I just couldn't help myself so I took some pictures to share with you guys~

I felt as if I was in a forest all day long, and it was really relaxing going plant shopping.

The orchids were beautiful as always.

A pop of red was also delightful through all the greenery.

Here is a sneak peak at what may be my next post!
I'm doing a little  DIY project to start my year off right and as you can see I had a little helper with me. Meet my sweet eldest baby, Suki. She is eleven years young.

Although  she played more with her teddy than helping me out... She was very curious to what I was doing and why she couldn't play with any of the things I was using.

That is it for now, I just wanted to get back into the habit of posting in my blog
I hope this year I'll keep at it and won't abandon it. Any suggestions are welcome
Feel free to talk and ask anything <3
I would love to know about your Holidays!

Con amor,
Yaris ♡
